Odell M. Richmond, Jr., Deputy Director, UIC HR Service Center
The purpose of this Information Alert is to inform the college/unit hiring authorities that the HireTouch/ General Information Systems (GIS) Integration for submitting Background Checks went live into production for the Chicago Campus on December 1, 2015. Reference materials regarding the University of Illinois Policy on Background Checks can be found on the UICHR Background Check Compliance page.
As promised during the webinar on Background Checks a few weeks ago, the HireTouch/GIS Integration went into production on December 1, 2015. With the integration, units will now be able to submit their requests for background checks directly within HireTouch for all jobs sourced through HireTouch. For jobs sourced outside of HireTouch, the paper forms must continue to be used. Please reference our UIC Background Check Process Flow for specifics on which jobs and/or employment groups should be processed via HireTouch or via paper forms.
A few points to consider with the new HireTouch/GIS integration:
All requests that are submitted via the paper forms can be faxed with a cover sheet to (312) 996-3837, hand-delivered, or mailed to the UIC HR Service Center at the following address: UIC HR Service Center, Attn: UICHR Criminal Background Check Processing, 715 S. Wood Street, 4th Floor, M/C 900.
