Academic Staff Terminal Contracts
This is a reminder that an HR Front End (HRFE) transaction must be routed to UIC HR Service Center for any Academic Professional and Faculty staff members who will not be reappointed beyond the end of the academic year (August 15, 2014) no later than Monday, January 27, 2014.
Academic Professional terminals can start and end at any time, as long as they cover the sufficient notice period to which they are entitled. However, Postdoctoral Research Associates that are paid from hard funding, who do not receive their notice 6 months prior to the end of their contract must be offered another full year appointment. We do also understand that not all contracts run on the academic year, but if there is no end date on the job, the standard academic year date is presumed. You may confirm dates by viewing an employee’s NOA by selecting “NOA” at the following University HR website: http://www.hr.uillinois.edu/human_resource_systems/h_r_applications
To submit a Notice of Non-Reappointment (NONR), complete an HRFE Employee Record Change transaction, with the necessary terminal letter attached, and route to UIC HR Service Center no later than 5PM, January 27, 2014. As a reminder, the Job Comments section should indicate that the current home address information has been verified as the BOT NONR will be sent to the employee’s home address.
To alert the UIC HR of pending Academic Professional and Faculty NONR transactions, please email the HR Service Center at firstname.lastname@example.org with the names of the employees, UIN’s, and transaction numbers of the NONRs that you are submitting. Please also indicate if the NONR is for an Academic Professional or a Faculty employee. This will help ensure transactions are processed by the Board of Trustees deadline.

For all positions where no formal notice of non-reappointment is required, units should do their best to give a reasonable period of notice to the employee if the employee’s contract will not be renewed.
