The key to unlocking the potential of diversity within an organization is to integrate human resources (HR) talent management practices with diversity efforts. Far too often, organizations have viewed HR and diversity functions as silo operations. HR practitioners themselves frequently assume that diversity is not part of their responsibilities. Traditionally, HR practitioners have focused on internal processes and stakeholders, emphasizing transactional activity rather than strategic contribution. At the same time, organizational leadership typically is not seen HR as a partner in transformative diversity change.
